Til Night Meets The Sun

Loren Kate

Till Night Meets The Sun was written across two years and moves through tales of her childhood, relationship between mother and father and losing her partner. The album is sincerely written and a genuine introduction into an upcoming folk talent. Produced by Glen Hannah (Felicity Urquhart, Chasing Bailey, Kim Cheshire), mixed and mastered by Jeff McCormack (Kasey Chambers, Shane Nicholson).

Loren won the 2014 Telstra Road to Discovery program, Australia's most authentic grassroots talent development program for singer/songwriters. The win enabled Loren to record 'Til Night Meets The Sun', produced by Glen Hannah and will also saw her perform at The Americana Festival in Nashville in late 2015.

ALL PROCEEDS FROM DOWNLOADS GO TO THE KIMBERLEY WORLD HERITAGE PROJECT...

When I was 19 I was running an open mic night in NSW, my car had broken down and I had this big dream to see Australia. So I asked if anyone in the crowd had a car they’d like to gift me. A lovely man, who had had a few too many drinks, offered up his bus. I went around to his place the next day and picked it up. I spent the next few months making it road worthy and off I went. I so clearly remember driving through the Kimberley on my own, I didn’t see, nor speak to another soul for days at a time… I remember wondering if there are many places like this on the earth? My older self can now answer that question. No, there’s nothing quite like it.

The Kimberley is home to the world’s oldest story.
It holds some of the largest intact natural areas left on the planet. A place where no mammal has gone extinct. A sanctuary for threatened and endangered marine life. A land where the Rock Art is arguably some of the world’s oldest, with evidence suggesting the earliest occupation in the region dates back about 65,000 years.

Today, more than 30 Aboriginal tribes remain in the Kimberley region, each with its own language and many with unique cultural practices. These cultures and the land are under threat. The Western Australian government is committed to major industrialisation and agricultural development across the whole of the Kimberley and are completely ignoring the concern to preserve this beautiful culture and wilderness.

There is an awesome team of people who are a part of the 'The Kimberley World Heritage Project (KWHiP)'. They are working so hard to secure a positive future for The Kimberley. But with only approximately 40,000 people living there, they need the help of the much wider community.

By donating, downloading and sharing this iconic song, written by Shane Howard, you’ll be helping the awesome team behind the KWHiP continue their vital work, with the ultimate vision of securing a World Heritage Listing for Australia’s last and most precious wilderness.

Moving On

Loren Kate

Loren Kate’s latest offering, ‘Moving On’ came to fruition through a successful crowd-funding campaign via Pozible.com, where over $16,000 was raised in 3 months from over 220 fans donating towards the albums creation. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Aria Award winning producer, Paul McKercher (Augie March, Pete Murray, You am I, Sarah Blasko) and recorded over 10 days at Jim Moginie’s (Midnight Oil) Oceanic Studios on Sydney’s northern beaches using Jim’s vintage equipment. It was then mastered by Steve Smart at studios 301 Sydney.
The sound that unveiled was timeless, drawing parallels to folk masterpieces of the 70’s but with a contemporary twist, a true testimony to Loren’s musical influences; Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Carole King, Bob Dylan.

Featuring some of Australia’s finest musicians, the record includes contributions from Bill Chambers, (father of multi award winning country singer, Kasey Chambers) on additional guitars who comments,‘Loren Kate is a superb singer/songwriter. I count it a privilege to have played guitar on her amazing new album.” As well as Trent Prees on Double Bass, Charlie Jones on drums, Iain Grandage (recipient of the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award 2012) on everything keys , Mel Robinson (Tim Rogers, John Butler, Mukti) on cello, Sarah Humphreys (ABC music artist of the year 2009) on backing vocals, Veronique Serret on Violin and a 3 second guest appearance from Loren's 2 yr old daughter.
